Hi. I have a friend in CA, about 40 miles from my location and want to ship him an older 15″ silver laptop computer that works fine. Does anyone know about how much it would cost and what company is the best choice to save on costs? UPS, USPS or FEDEX? Is insurance automatically included? Is there also a special shipping box designed for laptop computers? Thanks for any help.
The USPS would probably be the cheapest. Insurance is not included in their prices but they can add it. They do not box items at the USPS but they do sell boxes and box material. The cheapest way would probably be to buy a Ready Post box and then stuff it with lots of Newspaper. USPS offers a couple different shipping options Parcel Post being the cheapest for your situation.
USPS is the always the cheapest and most affordable. The shipping is slower and tracking is not as good though. Fedex is the most expensive but it is the most reliable. UPS would be right in between. But I ship a lot of things each week and the USPS Medium Box that is box #2 should work perfectly fine. You can also go to USPS for more information.
