What do you think of a Jack Russel?

Hello, my husband and I are wanting to get our son a puppy. we were thinking about a Jack Russel. Here are a few things to consider. We live in a 30′ RV, Have tons of time to spend with him becuase I am a Stay at Home Mom and we own our own biz, we live on the coast so plenty of time around water/ports/boats/and People. Our son is very active and always on the go everywhere, he is 20 Months but loves to get down and dirty. (WE HAD A GREAT DANE MIX BUT HAD TO MOVE A YEAR AGO AND GIVE HIM TO A FAMILY MEMBER WHO HAS 5 ACRES FOR HIM TO RUN) he did great with the bigger dog, but we need something smaller for our little place. But we also want a dog that will protect our son if need be……..what do you think? other breeds to cosider……..when our house is done being built we plan to get a rotty, but that is a couple years away.

i think a jack russel’s a great dog breed to get, theyre small and super active, so you need to make sure it gets plenty of exercise every day, or its behavior can become destructive. i recommend going to an animal shelter to adopt one. (: your sun’ll have a great time playing with one of those little guys. they can be kind of loud though, but hey, dogs need to talk. (: hope i helped, good luck!

Jack russels i am not to familar with but i have a rat terrier.
They are pretty much a smaller version of a jack russel.
They are loving, energectic and in my opinion the perfect family dog.

Jack russels are great dogs, you just really have to keep up on the training and start right away. Make sure that you crate train him for when you are gone and housebreak him for when you are home. Start taking him for walks early because if you don’t he’ll get so excited that he will bark the whole time. They are energetic and need tons of attention, but are very fun dogs to have. Try to get a short haired one so that you don’t have to worry about grooming.

DO NOT GET A JACK RUSSLE!!!!! They are like the worst breed they jump and you cant calm them down they jump up on you and scratch your legs they will pretty much attack you but not like they want to bite you or anythiing. they are i think the hardest dogs to train and they get hair everywhere!!! Get a yorkie i have two(1 year old). They are fast learners and love people they wont attack you and they dont shed or make you have allergeez. they live to be 14 and dont have many health problems. they stay small only 4 pounds and you dont have to walk them constantly and they love to play and never get board of you. Sorry if you really want a jack russle but i personally dont like the breed. My friend has 3 jack russles. Check out yorkshire terriers on the internet. They are awesome loyal dogs and theyre super cute. heres a pic of yorkies.

I love JRT’s but I swear they are four legged bottle rockets. . . . hyper is NOT a strong enough word for them. . . . very smart, very active, they require a lot of structured activity, boundaries and a strong willed but fair owner.

The Jack Russell Terrier has a larger-than-life personality and energy to spare. It is friendly, affectionatte and very intelligent. Here’s more about Jack Russell Terrier, http://dogtime. com/jack-russell-terrier. html
