I am redoing the decking of a 17′ aluminum bassboat. It currently has carpeted 3/4″ pressboard or OSB for the deckboards. I am wondering if I sould replace the deckboards with matching OSB or should I use plywood which I would think to be sturdier. What is the reasoning for using OSB over plywood? Is it a weight issue?
Thanks for your responses and input.

Plywood can delaminate on you when moisture gets to it. You don’t want that.
If you can afford Marine plywood, that should last you forever. Ask yourself, how long did the pressboard last before saying the Marine plywood is too costly. I don’t think it’s a weight issue, it’s probably a cost issue.
If it was a factory made boat I would assume they picked a product that did not absorb moisture. REGULAR OSB and plywoods do absorb moisture. but there is MARINE plywood, more expensive but worth it.
As in all things here check with professionals instead of any idiot with time and a keyboard.
