I just painted my small 12 foot wooden boat. i put 3 coats of marine grade paint on it. is it all set to go in the water? or should I put some sort of clear waterproofing on it?

Marine grade paint is waterproof and should withstand year of use with a little washing of grime off of it at the end of each boating season.
For a little more speed, you may search marine shops for the elusive and much fabled polishing compound said to be available.
As an aside, waterproofing is generally done before painting, caulking, epoxy, etc. , before painting.
