On a boat it’s a Captain and… What is the wife’s name? First lady?

Okay I am in charge of planning our school’s winter formal. And this year’s theme is a nautical theme called Romance at the Pier. Like life preservers and anchors and what not. Well we have a king and queen type thing for each grade level, kind of like prom king and queen. Well this year to go along with the theme we wanted to call the guys who win the Captains. And would the girls be first lady? Or what is the wife of a boat captain called? What title could we use?

first mate is teh second in charge of a ship.
if its husband or wife of the captain, 1st mate can take on a second meaning. but anybody entrusted with command of the vessel has to be capable of operating or commanding it (depends on size of vessel and crew fo rwhich they actually do).

in pracital terms of large ship and crew operation, if teh captain had a wife on board, she would be Mrs and treated with lots of respect, or she would called by whatever position she actually holds.

The old term was “Captain’s Lady. “
