the boat does not have any electrical on it. It is just a plan aluminum camo boat with a motor that you sit in the back by and move it to drive. any suggestions. I am trying to suprise him. I am sure he knows how to hook it up but i wanted to buy the radio without him knowing and i needed to know what kind to buy

Buy a boom box that has batteries in it, you can even get one with XM or Serious.
Or if you really want a radio installed like the one in your Accord you’d have to go to sporting goods store and buy a marine radio and a deep cycle battery (like one for a trolling motor) and he can hook it all up professional. He would however have to charge this battery after every outing because you have no alternator. If his little boat already has a trolling motor then he has a battery already that will run the radio. . . . . . . . . but i’d still just buy a little boom box
Yeah, just buy a battery powered radio. Don’t bother installing a marine radio in an aluminum boat because you’ll have a hell of a time trying to find a space to mount the head unit and speakers along with a deep cycle battery. With a portable battery powered radio (or boom box) you can take it with you when you leave the boat so it doesn’t get stolen or damaged by the weather. It’s a nice idea to surprise your boyfriend, I hope he likes it!
any marine quality radio will do but let him hook it up he will still be happy i know i would
yeah, just get any marine radio from bass pro, cabelas or west marine. He might need to trade it in for one better suited for his boat, but take my word for it, he will be so thrilled that you got him a boat upgrade, especially one that requires DIY installation — it’s a sure home run.
