Looking to buy a small boat have questions.?

I have a 98 Toyota Automatic. I’m looking into buying a SMALL boat thatll fit at least 2 people. I have a budget of 500$. Do you think I can find one? Preferably a wooden boat. Something about 8 to 10 feet long. Do these exist?

I was thinking of a wooden boat because it should be lighter than an aluminum and my car should be able to tow it right?

Yes, you can find one. It may need some work, but you can.

A aluminum, boat will be lighter than a wood boat, but your Toyota will pull either one without a problem.

Craigslist and your local classifieds will be the best place to shop.

An aluminum boat will be a good bit lighter than wood. Look in the classifieds locally, one in your budget shouldn’t be that hard to find. Although I really recommend at least a 12 foot boat for two people. I have a 10 foot myself that is cramped and fairly unstable with two people and a small amount of gear. The 12 or 14 foot models tend to be a little wider, but not much heavier.

a search of your local craigs list will give you a lot of ideas on what small boats are available. there should be several listed under $500. 00. since you want a boat to fit at least two people suggest that you look at boats over 10′ in length. depending on where you use the boat, you may also want to look at canoes ane kayaks. aluminum or wooden skiffs are also a good choice.

since you are talking about wooden boats, you have the option of building your own boat. here is a simple design for a small skiff

    hope this helps
