This 32 ft x 10 ft beam center console built in 2006, with 4 stroke outboards. Is this not the perfect charter boat for Costa Rica. The boat comes with all licences and an active web site. Also rods and reel etc. The boat is built like a blackfin, real stronge. The guy wants $ 55,000.00 or best offer $125,000 invested. He is selling because he has 2 boats and wants slow down a little. He wants at least $ 25,000 cash plus he would consider interesting trades like , smaller boat fro the rivers, truck, car, land, backhoe, buldozer etc. Is it eaiser to sell something when you can trade for part of it. He tried www.ricaboats.com they did not comment on the trade aspect. also www.boatquest.com
did not answer his listing. the only broker left was www.costaricaboatsales.com but he wanted to try and go straight to the cuctomer. the boat is on www.costaricafishingdeals.com is the barter system not the best way to go since cash is exclusive. Buying a turn key boat charter company as a retiring type business not a good way to wind down ?

Don’t buy an old charter boat
if thats what you are asking
People abuse those boats, its pretty much like buying a rental car
a big no no
you get people who havent an idea what hes doing or does something to the engine. It also probobably has a ton of hours since its Costa Ric and in the water at least 10 months of the year
wait you want to buy a charter company?
all of this sounds pretty fishy and like a scam too me if i were you i would just ignore this guy
Might be legit – but – got SCAM written all over it. How you going to fix it if it all goes pear shaped?
Once you’re outside your own country you got buckley’s chance of getting your money back, and maybe not even the boat.
Tread carefully – if you really want a charter business then go and work for one for a season first. That will tell you more about the market and the business structure than any thing else.
Hey. I have looked over your question carefully. I have charter boats in panama. I also looked over some of the answers. In my experience if the boat is a 2006 in Costa Rica it is most likely in good shape. Costa rica charter companies big and small are big on taking care of their boats. The one answer that charter Captains are hard on boats, well think about it , why would you loose valuable fishing days by running your boat hard. I have been in the biz for 30 years. Any true boat owner with any experience knows that a boat being used regular basis is far better than siting around. As far as being ligit. Well I know it is a long and expensive process to get charter licences in Costa Rica. Also the paper work can be checked out by any good Puntaraines based marine attorney. The boat ownership as well as the licencing is public information and can be checked out. I would look the boat over and run it. If you do not have experience try to get a charter boat captain that knows the boat to help you. Reputations in this biz are a big thing. Other captains are pretty good on telling you the truth. The trading for part of the value has always been attractive. Since most people have something to sell before they can buy. It sounds like this guy may have some property as well, from the broad variety of interesting trades. My advice is , if you want to charter. It would be better to buy a turn key operation. Other wise you will chase your tail trying to get all the needed paper work. Also I would speak to this guys book keeper and do a search on the companies reporting record, to make certain it is up to date. Scams in Costa Rica are more often done over the internet and offer you to good to be true deals sight unseen. Take it from me from what you described it does not look like a very hard deal to investigate. If you don’t buy this boat perhaps you could give me the contact. We are always looking for duty paid boats to put in our fleet. Chartering is big money down here from Dec to april.
Good luck I would only consider answers from people in the know. It is very easy to label something a scam if you have no idea what you are talking about. P. S. I heard the bite was just south of Quepos with a 375 Marlin to 125 sailfish tourniment a few months back. Lots of Marlin here as well. Capitan Harry from the “Back Off Too. ” Panama.
