The office psychopath does not thrive on chaos – the office psychopath is oblivious to the chaos he creates because he thinks only of himself and his needs – he is blind to the effect he has. He is the boat and the rest of the office rocks in his wake. You do not have to rid yourself of the office psychopath if you can learn to successfully deal with him by denying him his power over you. He will not change so don’t waste energy being angry at him. What he does is not personal against you – it’s all about him. Tend to your boundaries and do not let him push you around any more than absolutely necessary and do not let him manipulate you. You can find peace by not letting him affect your emotions.

This whole thing is hillarious, because whatever conditioning that created this person was done years before we came along and everybody has to WORK. Just be creative by taking all of your issues to the nutcracker to chew on and do what you are/were going to do anyway as long as it improves the work and makes everybody look good gets the job done. Nobody really is in charge, a buisness, an office has a life all its own and you have no idea who might drop the ball, or what random thing might come up so wing it people, as long as you know your work, you can just get it done irregardless of whoever gets in the way. Sorry guys but I feel all boxed in by this “Office Steriotypes” talk. Take Care. -Rachel.
If the organization you work within has placed equal importance on ethical behavior as a factor for advancement and maintained employment then you probably will not even recognize an office psychopath because the will gain more of an advantage by simulating the required ethics. The psycho might not feel, that it is the right thing to do from a conscience stand point but in an organization where well defined ethics are stressed as import the psycho will conform to these ideals to better serve themselves within that organization.
Where an organization has no well defined ethics or penalties for failure to meet them is where a psycho path is likely to cause the most harm. Therefore a good way to deal with an office psycho is to work in organization whose ethics are well defined and nonconflicting with your own personal ethics.
An organization that has in your opinion poorly defined or ill oriented ethics will likely have within that organization those that you would consider to be of poor moral fiber.
If the goals of the organization are still being met that organization will not likely take action against said persons, so you would have to deal with them as stated above unless you wish to change that organization in which case you would need to gain as much influence as possible and suppress those that do not share your ideas.
In a saftey critical situation where an organization lacks well defined ethics I would feel obligated to confront this psychopath if they may be in a position to cause bodily harm to others and I would feel it my duty to police them to insure safty of others. To simply avoid confrontation when others could be harmed is not the best course of action in my opinion.
