I want a camcorder to take on a boat holiday – which one though?

I need a small, high resolution camcorder that requires good stabilising capabilities and very good quality resolution. I’m taking it on a liveaboard boat for a scuba holiday and want to take footage of my friends on board, dolphins and all the nice places that we will be visiting in the Red Sea. I plan to bring the recorded film back and edit using Pinnacle Studio so that I can create a dvd for everyone as a souvenir. Totally confused by all the different camcorders out there – do I go for mini dv or hard drive?? I have a laptop with firewire and usb and will spend up to £500 – what do I go for? Please help. Thanks!

Panasonics are great for that price, best quality for under 500 pounds around. . . only problem is, its not quite compact.
They do mini dv tapes. . . but it doesnt matter, aslong as you have enough of them.

    Hi!!
Get either a Panasonic or a Sony. Also, better to get a hard disk camcoder. Check out this models:
