The Skipper should not have called all stop instead he should have gone in reverse at full speed toward the Greek freighter going in reverse makes the water run out the bow just as when my boat is filling with water and I go full throttle and pull the drain plug the water in my bilge gets sucked out However as far as design goes the watertight bulkheads should have been two decks higher hope that helps
Better steering, double-triple-quadruple hull, better metallurgy, autopilot so you don’t hit an iceberg.
