I am looking at purchasing a boat that weighs 3400 lbs without people and other things figured in. I plan on putting on a ATF Cooler and a Class 2 hitch. Will it have a problem pulling up a ramp out of the water?

I would check with the dealer for a trade, after you ask him what the towing capacity is. Most class 2’s are only 2500max but remember this 3400 is dead weight not rolling weight. but up a ramp I don’t think you’ll damage the hitch as much as rip up the transmission. . .

If you do not care to buy a new vehicle REAL soon, go ahead. Seriously, think about it, how much does your vehicle weigh? Do you REALLY wish to attempt towing a boat of so much weight down a hiway, with people cutting you off-you trying to keep out of their way and a behemouth of a boat pushing your little vehicle around as if it was a toy? Or driving down the hiway, wind blowing blue blazes-You just hoping and praying you can safely stop before BEFORE you wind up upside-down(I have seen this happen with my own eyes). Get a smaller boat, OR a bigger tow vehicle guy. Do not menace the rest of the people out there with you on the road-ways
Not gonna happen, please don’t do that. Honda has weak transmission as it is, don’t add to the issue. Not to mention the structural integrity of the vehicle will degrade substantially. . . creaks, rattles. . . Please dont.
it might pull it around town ok but it will be hard on the van. but if you try to pull it out of the water you will probley burn up the tranny or sink the van. no joke ive seen it happen. i have a 92 dodge dakota and i use 4 wheel drive when i pull my boat out of the drink. i have a 19 foot rinker i guess it weights about the same.

We have towed a 3000 pound boat with 1000 pound trailer with a Dodge D-50 (4 cylinder,2600cc,5 speed manual) You need a class 3 hitch and a trailer with brakes. The ramp problems will depend on the grade of the ramp, and slipperyness. With 4 wheel drive and low range it should be no problem.
