I need to equip my canoe with some very durable wheels for the purpose of a portage I have done three times now. The portage is two miles long, through swamp, rocks, and downed trees. I have taken the portage twice with a guide, and he had his canoe equipped with wheels for the portage. I did the same portage for the third time last summer, but without the guide, and my dad and I got a canoe cart that clearly wasn’t built for long, rough portages, since it buckled and broke halfway through. The portage is about 4 hours without the wheels, so I could really use a pair that will hold up strong through the duration of the trip.
I have a 17′ Old Town Fiberglass canoe, for reference.

How about wheels and axles from wheelbarrow’s Contact a manufactor
Bicycle tires would be good They come in all sizes. Garage Sales / Goodwill stores / Salvation Army stores / Flea Markets. You can find them all over. Hire a local welder to put it all together for you. I use a lot of bed frame angle iron to build things.

I don’t know how big of tires you want so Gulf bag caddies also have good wheels. You can get them in all the same places
