Fiberglass is plastic, but some plastics will actually melt when you put on the gel coat. Test a small area and see if it will adhere properly. Good luck
Fiberglass and plastic will be fine together. Fiberglass is not plastic although in some solid forms it feels like plastic. Fiberglass is exactly what it sounds like. It is small particles of glass that are strong out in fibers. Another example is insulation which is also a type of fiberglass.
Maybe. Depends on what kind of plastic your pool liner is. Fiber glass has either a polyester or epoxy binder and won’t adhere to many plastics. I’m guessing your pool liner is vinyl; if so, delamination between the vinyl and the fiber glass is a real possibility. There are surface treatments you can apply to the vinyl to improve bonding. For that matter, simply quickly passing a torch flame over the surface of the vinyl just before applying the fiber glass, tho not enough to soften it, might help a lot.
